    Reflection

Initially when I read the assignment I did not think that it would be this difficult. It was easy to think of the first few bugs but after the 10th one, I was stuck. I would have thought that coming up with my personal bugs would be a simple task since I experience some on a daily basis. I found myself constantly not trying to have similar bugs. In addition, it was challenging to explain the “why” on some of the bugs I listed. Some “why’s” seemed obvious whereas as others, I felt that I needed to place my feet in the shoes of the individual in order to explain why it exists. For instance, when I mentioned how it bothered me when individuals do not flush the toilet after using it. I felt that this bug has many different reasons as to why it occurs. The challenge was choosing one reason that I felt was most relevant to the situation. Overall, I liked how the “why” question focused on why the bug existed, not why it bothered me. It allowed me to realize that a lot of these bugs that exist are not intentional but honestly, part of the way our society functions.

  1. Hi Jesse,
I really relate to your bugs. It made me think about other things that you discussed that bug me as well. I agree that it is sometimes hard to put yourself in someone else's shoes and try to understand their reasoning for doing something bothersome. I also liked that we focused on why the bug existed in the first place, rather than why it actually bothers us. It really helps us to reflect and see others points of view.

  2. Hello Jess! Your bug list really describes a lot of the bugs I go through each and every day. When sleeping in on the weekend and I get woken up by a lawn mower it just ruins my good night sleep. I also agree when people are talking loud on quiet floors. I guess that’s the nature of collaboration when people are studying with each other. Your bugs were great and formatted where I could read them without issue.

  3. Jess, I appreciated many of the bugs on your list. In particular, the "10 items or less" bug drives me crazy, especially because I worked at a grocery store in high school and experienced the problem every time I was at work. I also had the "not enough checkout lines at Walmart" bug on my list, which makes me feel better that I am not the only one bothered by it. I went through a similar process creating my list, where I immediately thought of 8-10, then hit a wall and struggled to reach 20.
