Who am I?

My name is Jessilyn Boakye-Donkor. I am a third year undergraudate University of Florida, hoping to work in tech industry. The technology industry has grown significantly throughout the past few decades and has had huge impact on our society. I have always been an advocative for the growth in the technology industry. As population grows, we need to continue to advance as a society, therefore; technology enables us to do just that.

What are you offering to customers?

I am offering a way for individuals to drive safely during the rain. Similar to how we have windshield wipers for the front and back of cars, I believe that it is beneficial for window shield wipers for the windows. Living in a city that consistently rains, I find it hard to see on my side windows when it rains. It makes it difficult to switch lanes and know what is going on around my environment. The window shield wipers would help combat this problem.

Who are you offering it to?

Drivers that live in rainy cities like Gainesville. There is no specific demographic or psychographic characteristic in this case. This product is available to all who find it need necessary.

Why do they care?

It makes driving easier and safer when it rains, especially when it is storming. For instance, parents will feel safer knowing that their kids are able to drive safely in the rain. I know personally that my parents do not like me driving in heavy rain because they know it is much difficult to see; therefore,  I believe this business concept would be something that they would advocate for.

What are your core competencies?

I believe that this idea has not been explored before; therefore, I think that my customers could find this intriguing. This invention caters to all individuals that are eligible to drive.

Conclusion:

For the most part, i believe that all these elements fit together. One aspect that i do feel a bit hesitate about is whether or not individuals would care for this invention. Since, we are all use to just having the windshield on the front and back of our cars for so long and have done fine without window shield wipers, would they care? With that, are they willing to pay for it?

  1. In theory your idea sounds like a good one, in reality I'm not sure it would be of much help. It would seem to be more distracting. Your front and rear windows are also stationary, they do not move. The passenger and driver's side windows move up and down, making it difficult to have a wiper blade on them. A solution such as rainx might be better for side windows.

  2. Hi Jess,
I like that you blended together your dreams of joining the tech industry and created a tech related product. It is good that you created a product that personally affects you so that you can better create the product. I like that your product was created with safety in mind rather than a product being sold solely for fun. Parents get very worried about their children driving so this might help ease some of their worry.
