14 A- Halfway Reflect
Tenacity & Paying it Forward
1) Tenaciousness is a competency : The trials and errors of this class has allowed me to developed behaviors that I enabled me to keep up. For instance, I have found it helpful to read each assignment due that week, the Sunday before. By doing this, I can allocate the right about of time to each assignment. Some assignments take longer than others, so I found it wise to start on those first. Also, I try and do one assignment a day, so usually by Wednesday I have completed all the assignments. I leave Thursday & Friday for peer reviews. This way I do not have to worry about it during my weekends :)
2) Tenaciousness is also about attitude: Oh yes, there have definitely been some weeks were I felt like not submitting an assignment. Mainly because of my own procrastination or it had been a hectic week for me. In those moments, I try to remind myself that the assignments are not just beneficial in terms of my semester grade but actually for my career too. For instance, I have realized that this class has allowed to me definitely view and address situations in a better way; moreover, this skill I know will be useful in the future.
3) Three tips :
1) Do what works best for you. This means do not try to imitate what others do if it does not work for you. This allows you to figure out on your own what will foster a tenacious habit in you.
2) Put your all in the assignments that you do from the very first assignment. You will reap the benefits over time because it will reflect in your other assignments. This is one way to develop a tenacious mindset
3) Do not be afraid to reach out to Dr. Pryor when you do not understand the assignment. First of all, he is super friendly and thorough when answering your questions. This shows that you care to understand the assignment fully before rushing through it without gaining anything from it; moreover, it also reflects that you are dedicated.

Hi Jess,
ReplyDeleteI think you did a great job in your reflection. I definitely agree with you about there being times throughout this semester where I did not want to submit assignments, but ultimately got them done and felt good about it afterwards. Also, your tips for future students would be very useful, especially the first one about doing what works best for you. It is easy to try to conform to what everyone else is doing, but the course is most beneficial when you go through it your own way.
